Worm Bin & Composting Workshop

Join us in celebrating Earth Month and International Compost Awareness Week (May 5-11) and learn from the experts about composting and at-home worm bins! This FREE workshop contains two separate demonstrations, with a tour of 5Heart Earthworm Farm following the workshop.

Amy is a composting professional and avid backyard composter. As an Organics Maven and a Resource Conservationist for the Genesee Conservation District, she thrives on education about all things food; from building healthy soils to growing nutrient-dense food to the end-life of food scraps. Do you want to be a successful backyard composter? Want to know why organic materials management and composting is important in the first place? Learn how collecting, composting and using finished compost affects your soil and your community in this informative and upbeat presentation!

Sarah is the CEO of iris Waste Diversion Specialists, and Owner of 5Heart Earthworm Farm. She’s passionate about reducing waste and teaching about the benefits of using worm castings to improve soil health. Worm bins are growing in popularity as a method of reducing the amount of food waste thrown out across America. It even produces a rich source of natural nutrients for your plants! In this workshop, you’ll be learning what kind of food you can put in a worm bin, how much worms eat, how to harvest the castings, and more!
